Your Next Crew Member Is Already Here

Finding Minnesota filmmakers is a relationship, not a transaction.

Most Minnesota filmmakers know the feeling of being mid-prep and realizing the crew list is half empty. A grip falls through, a sound mixer is booked, and the search starts over in a fragmented group chat. The issue in the Twin Cities is rarely a shortage of talent. It is the lack of a centralized infrastructure to find each other before the production pressure sets in.

Successful independent filmmaking relies on building relationships between projects, not just during them. When you invest in your network during the quiet months, the phone calls are shorter and the answers are yes when production begins.

If your dream is only about you, it is too small.

Minnesota’s film community is deep. Between the programs at MCAD and the University of Minnesota, and the energy surrounding MSPIFF this month, the local talent pool is growing, visible and active. However, a screening or a classroom is only the starting point. To move a project from an idea to a finished film, you need a dedicated space to manage those connections.

The Crewsaide was built to be that space. We are currently building the digital infrastructure, from filterable member directories to dedicated production forums, that allows our community to resource each other year-round.

Join us by April 30 as a Founding Member. Every new filmmaker who enters the directory strengthens the local ecosystem and helps us move toward our goal of a physical production home in the Twin Cities.
